This movie was very sad for me because it showed me another side of the world I had never known about. We live in a counrty where we have our freedoms, while people on the other side of the world are suffering and trying to escape from North Korea because the government treats them so badly. The part that made me the most sad, is once people finally escaped from North Korea, if they were caught in China the people would turn them over and send them right back, knowing that they would either be killed or tourtured. I believe that North Korea is the most failed state in the entire world and a country needs to stand up to them and turn that counrty around.

After watching the movie Seoul Train, i got a much better perspective on what a failed state is really like and the troubles many people go through. There are North Korean children in China not attending school because their mothers are scared they will be deported. Before watching the movie, i had no idea China was so strict and cruel with deporting North Koreans. The chance of getting caught trying to cross borders is high, but many North Koreans are willing to take it. Watching Seoul train made me feel very upset with the way things are happening in this world. It is also very sad that there are very few compassionate people left in this world. The video made me sad, but also made me very angry to see the Chinese government dismiss these north Korean refugees. If you want my honest opinion on this topic, i think America should bomb both North Korea and China back into the stone age

I thought this video was sad that people were so afraid of their country that they had to escape it. When one of the people was asked, "There's going to be danger, aren't you afraid?" he responded with, "There's going to be danger here, or there." (Quotes not exactly right... but you get the point.) That really made things clear to me about how desperate they were to be free. This scene, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jCIMLGG51MY was so sad for me. Just watching that little girl, who didn't even know what was happening. I feel bad because they were so close to getting away. I think this whole topic is pretty hard for us to understand, we don't realize how lucky we are to live here.

the first word that come to my mind after watching this educational video is desperate. these Korean refugees did absolutely nothing wrong and they are still being punished every day. i dont 100 percent understand why the American military still wont intervene. i realize they have nuclear weapons but so do we. it is also a fair assumption to make that we have more nuclear missiles accessible to us then north Korea will ever have. but going back to the word desperate. these refugees were willing to get through the fence into the Japanese embassy under any circumstance or scare. that's pretty desperate to me. but along with these actions being desperate, the refugees were also extremely brave. even though this family had no other option for survival, you still would have to be very strong minded in order to charge north Korean guards and push them out of your way.
another thing i noticed that kind of pissed me off was when the father and the uncle were supposed to push the guards to the ground and the chickened out. how could you go through life knowing you took your freedom over your wife and child. i just think that that was a scummy move.

After watching the video I got a new perspective on a failed state. When we talked about failed states i just thought of lack of nutrition and sanitation. But the situation in North Korea was way worse than i thought. And i didnt know about the fact that China was also corrupt when it came to the situation in North Korea. How abused they would be and how many a year died in North Korea for escaping. Even the physical enforcement in China was terrible. I feel that we don't even know the whole truth of everything because North Korea is so secluded from the rest of the wrold we dont know what goes on in their jails for sure and how terrible the refugee's life really are at first hand. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,131024,00.html

I found this video really terrible, not only because of what the refugees had to go through but also because of how little another country was willing to do for them. One of the worst things to see is people in pain in a place where you can't help them and the people around them are able to help and won't. Some of the numbers I found online said there were probably at least 30,000 refugees in China and possibly quite a bit more. Another thing that I found online that the video didn't really talk about was how women and children were often sold into human trafficking and many refuggees have to beg on the streets or live in harsh climates just to stay alive. It's just really unbeleivable that China, and other countries aren't willing or doing much about this, even something as simple as letting people live there.
